TSF’s ‘Outdoor Leadership Camps’ Adding Values to Skills of Joda Youths
Joda, 27, December: With an objective to ingrain leadership quality and enhance teamwork skills among rural youths, Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) recently organised an Outdoor Leadership Camp at Jamshedpur for youths of Joda and nearby areas. A total of 49 youths including 24 girls and 25 boys from nearby Kundaposi, Benuapani, Joda, Khuntpani, Jajang, Kamalpur, Kundurpani, Bamebari, Koila hutting, Shahid Nagar, Bichakundi, Hudisahi and Camp hutting areas attended the three-day camp.
During the tour, the participants were exposed to various activities like rock climbing, obstacle race, flying fox, rapling, point-to-point navigation, caving and trekking to develop skills in leadership and teamwork. They too learnt ways to enhance their interpersonal skills to help them become better individuals in life. All the activities throughout the sessions were carried out by experienced instructors.
The trip was flagged-off by Rajesh Kumar, Chief, Nilachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL), Tata Steel in the presence of Ravindra Kumar, Unit Lead, TSF, Joda and Binod Kumar, Unit Lead, TSF, Khondbond and other officials.
Sharing her experience about the camp, Priyanka Naik of Pandiya village under Jajang gram panchayat said, “I had never thought of having such a great exposure of this kind. I learnt that even girls can perform many activities like boys do. We need only the willpower to do the work. I am very much thankful to TSF for giving me this opportunity”.
Salman Munda of Champa Kudar village said, “In my first visit to such a productive camp, I learnt that always teamwork wins and I am sure I will be able to motivate my village fellows to build a good team for all constructive works in our region”.
As a part of it’s commitment to inculcate high socio-cultural values in society and motivate youths to bringout their hidden inner qualities, TSF has been organising such camps in a regular interval in the operational areas of Tata Steel.
